L’école des garçons…
Au deuxième étage, se trouve le logement réservé aux instituteurs.
André Hardy, artiste peintre, (dont les toiles sont exposées au musée Place du Tripot a occupé ce logement dans les années 1908-1909.
L’école des garçons se situait au 1
er étage à la place de l’actuelle cantine. Il y avait deux classes d’environ 40 élèves chacune.
Madame Dodeman tenait « la petite classe » et Monsieur Dodeman « la classe des grands ».
Les enfants avaient tout intérêt à savoir leurs leçons, sinon ils accompagnaient, après l’école, Monsieur Dodeman à la Mairie. (il était aussi secrétaire de Mairie, comme beaucoup d’instituteurs à l’époque).
Ils ne quittaient pas les lieux avant 19 heures. Peu importe qu’il fasse nuit noire et que l’enfant ait 2 ou 3 km à faire à pied pour rentrer chez-lui !

Il collegio maschile…
Al secondo piano si trovavano gli alloggi degli istitutori.
Il pittore André Hardy (le cui opere sono esposte al museo in Place du Tripot) vi abitò tra il 1908 e il 1909.
Il collegio maschile si trovava al primo piano al posto della mensa odierna. C’erano due classi di circa 40 studenti ciascuna.
Madame Dodeman teneva la « piccola classe » et Monsieur Dodeman « la classe dei grandi ».
I bambini avevano tutto l’interesse di fare i compiti. In caso contrario, essi seguivano Monsieur Dodeman al Municipio nel dopo scuola. Come molti istitutori dell’epoca, egli era anche segretario del Municipio.
I bambini non lasciavano la scuola prima delle 19. Poco importava che facesse notte e che il bimbo avesse 2 o 3 chilometri da fare a piedi per ritornare a casa!

The boys’ school.
The second floor of this building housed the teachers.
André Hardy, an artist (who’s paintings can be seen on display at Place du Tripot) lived here from 1908/1909).
The boys’ school was on the 1st floor.
It was also the school canteen, there were 2 classrooms with 40 pupils in each. Mrs Dodeman had the younger ones, her husband taught the older ones. The children were generally interested in their studies. If not, they would be sent to see Mr. Dodeman (who was also the secretary at the Town Hall) after lessons.
They were there until 7 pm. Often it was dark and they went home by foot, walking between 2 or 3 Km before arriving home.
